The long-standing traditions of Chinese martial arts and the highly artistic dragon and lion dances have a deep-rooted history in Macau and remain one of the most beloved traditional performances. Today, these practices have evolved into a form of fitness, attracting a growing number of participants.
The 2016 Macau Lion Dance and Martial Arts Inheritance and Promotion Project – Lion Dance & Martial Arts Showcase Night will feature a series of performances. Through demonstrations of lion dance, Choy Li Fut, Tai Chi, and weaponry sparring, the event aims to guide the audience in understanding the origins of lion dance with its focus on form, the lineages of different martial arts schools, as well as their associated etiquette and taboos, all while promoting the traditional culture of Chinese lion dance and martial arts.
