Event Overview

A series of magnificent and brilliant fireworks patterns bloom in the Macau night sky, accompanied by cheers and applause from the gathered crowds, creating heartwarming and romantic scenes.

The annual Macau International Fireworks Display Competition not only illuminates Macau's night sky but also touches people's hearts. Every September, typically on Saturday evenings, the Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day, two fireworks display competitions are held, adding excitement and joy to the holidays and festivals. The public eagerly anticipates the fireworks season, and many tourists specifically choose this period to visit Macau to watch the fireworks and enjoy a lively and romantic holiday. The fireworks display competition has become a distinctive hallmark of Macau.

History & Scale

• Established: The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has been organizing the annual Macau International Fireworks Display Competition since 1989, starting with only five participating teams.
• Expansion: In 1995, the event took a step forward, expanding from five to ten participating teams, with two different teams performing each night.
• International Status: The Macau International Fireworks Display Competition has now become an international event, holding considerable scale and status among similar competitions worldwide.
• Global Participation: To date, over a hundred high-level fireworks companies from countries and regions including China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Australia, Taiwan (China), the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Poland, Croatia, Finland, the United States, Canada, and South Africa have participated.
