The Cultural Affairs Bureau presents "Lui Chun Kwong: Distant Lines," an exhibition showcasing thirty-one works/sets of paintings by the renowned Hong Kong artist Lui Chun Kwong. An opening ceremony will be held on Friday, October 28, at 6:30 PM.
Hong Kong senior artist Lui Chun Kwong studied in Taiwan in his early years and pursued further studies in the UK in the 1990s. His artistic style has evolved from early realism to the abstract approach for which he is best known. Viewers can perceive a deep connection to nature through his works. The delicate lines and subtle color variations in his paintings allow the audience to appreciate the beauty of pure and unadorned abstract art.
The Landscape Series has been a continuous theme in Lui's work for many years. During his time in the UK, he conducted drip experiments using wooden boxes. The lines formed by paint dripping vertically from above, and the surfaces of the disassembled boxes, became his painting medium. The lines in these compositions became a crucial element in his subsequent creations. The works featured in this exhibition are recent additions to his Landscape Series, where subtle gradations of grey tones construct abstract, aesthetically pleasing landscapes.
To provide a deeper understanding of Lui's artistic development, exhibition publications from his career will also be displayed, offering a comprehensive view of his creative journey.
