10 Fantasia Creative Garden welcomes its second painting exhibition of 2014, featuring Macau-born artist Leong Kam Seng, who currently resides in Hong Kong. This exhibition showcases his recent works, marking his return to the Macau exhibition scene after seven years since his last showing in 2007.
Leong Kam Seng began his artistic training in Macau during the 1960s under masters Tam Chi Sang and Huang Pei Jiang. He later studied at the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris before establishing his career in Hong Kong. His extensive exhibition history includes participation in national and international bookplate exhibitions in mainland China and Taiwan, the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Biennial, and the China National Print Exhibition, alongside numerous solo exhibitions in Hong Kong.
The "Little Houses" series has become Leong's signature work and lifelong artistic pursuit. These compositions utilize geometric, regular blocks to construct houses, creating works that are clear, layered, and intriguingly surreal. The series offers a unique interpretation of the real world, inviting viewers to join the artist in the search for an ideal homeland. Some works from this series were selected for the Hong Kong Art Biennial Exhibition.
10 Fantasia aims to encourage artists born in Macau who have developed their careers abroad to return and participate in local art events. This exhibition serves as a starting point for fostering dialogue between returning artists, the new generation of local Macau artists, and recently established exhibition spaces, with the goal of stimulating the growth of local artistic creation.
