The belief in the Land Deity is prevalent in Macao and was inscribed onto the fifth batch of the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2021. The second day of the second lunar month is the birthday of the 'Land Grandpa'. During this period, many Earth God temples in Macao hold blessing ceremonies, lion dances, or Chinese opera performances. The most famous celebrations are held at the Fok Tak Chi Temple in Patane, the Earth God Temple in Patane, and the Fok Tak Chi Temple in Hac Sa.
During the festival, residents visit the temples to pray for peace, health, and favorable weather, creating a lively and bustling atmosphere.
