The Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology is established by the Cultural Affairs Bureau in honor of the great master of Chinese studies, Professor Jao Tsung-I. It hosts the permanent exhibition 'A Heart at Ease in the Midstream – Exhibition of Calligraphy and Paintings Donated by Professor Jao Tsung-I', allowing the public to appreciate his masterpieces.
The academy also houses a library, thematic exhibition halls, and a lecture hall dedicated to promoting Chinese culture and art. The building itself was originally a residential house completed in 1921, featuring a Neoclassical architectural style. It was listed as a protected heritage site in Macao in 1984.
