Drama · Singing · Exhibition
Saltwater songs, also known as "vernacular fishing songs," are a form of Macao's intangible cultural heritage. They represent an oral cultural expression used by fishermen for daily communication and entertainment. This program tells the story of a fishing couple's meeting, mutual affection, and daily life on the boat, singing of the joys and sorrows of fishermen's lives and industry development.
Audiences will gather at a Coloane seaside stilt house, feel the sea breeze, gaze at the riverbank, and imagine the past working lives of fishermen through the drama's plot. They can also enjoy live performances of saltwater songs by veteran fishermen and visit a related exhibition.
If a Black Rainstorm Warning Signal or any Typhoon Signal is still hoisted one hour before the show, that performance will be canceled. It will be rescheduled for a morning slot on another performance day, or a ticket refund will be arranged.
