Human Roots: Obrénovitch Sculpture Exhibition
This exhibition seeks to confront humanity through its roots in nature via the display of extraordinarily powerful wood pieces by French contemporary sculptor Mickaël Obrénovitch, a leading proponent of organic sculpture.
About the Artist & Works
- Artist: Mickaël Obrénovitch, a 36-year-old French contemporary sculptor and a distinguished representative of the organic sculpture movement.
- Materials: All works are crafted from ancient teak tree roots, over 200 years old, rescued from a fire in Java, Indonesia.
- Concept: The teak wood is seen as a witness to the fading traces of colonialism. The roots symbolize the timeless resignation of nature. Through abstract art, Obrénovitch aims to express the relationship between humans and nature and evoke a sense of gratitude towards the natural world.
- Exhibition Scope: This exhibition in Macao serves as a comprehensive showcase of his wood sculpture art created over the past 15 years.
