Hong Shan Shan was born in Shishi, Fujian. Her father was a locally renowned calligrapher and seal carver, which deeply influenced her and fostered a lifelong passion for the art of calligraphy and seal carving. After moving to Macau, she embarked on a new life, focusing on building a career, raising a family, and the daily demands of life. Thirty years passed in the blink of an eye, leaving little time for her artistic practice, leading to a sense of distance from her craft.
However, her original passion never faded. Encouraged and supported by friends and family, she regained her confidence, reoriented her mindset, and returned to her beloved art form.
This year marks Hong Shan Shan's 60th year, making her first solo exhibition at this milestone age particularly meaningful.
The Rui Cunha Foundation hopes this exhibition conveys the message that artistic creation knows no age or boundaries. It also aims to promote traditional Chinese culture and art, contributing to its preservation and continuation.
The exhibition will feature a series of calligraphy works and a selection of seal carving pieces. All are welcome to attend.
