"Heritage Stroll: Poetic Path" has been jointly organized by the Cultural Heritage Ambassador Association and Yengz Dance Garden since 2012, and has now reached its 5th edition! This year, it has evolved into a (micro) old-city roaming arts festival. We hope to continue exploring with everyone, to "stimulate the five senses, explore art, and appreciate the beauty of life in the heritage city."
The festival will run from now until early next year, featuring collective creation with local residents, artists, cultural heritage ambassadors, and volunteers. It will offer richer pre-performance art activities, workshops, and city tours, while also building momentum for the two-week exhibition and performances scheduled for March 2022.
This edition of "Heritage Stroll: Poetic Path" takes "The Invisible Coastline" as its theme, inviting everyone to discover, review, and envision our relationship with the sea.
As a city surrounded by sea on three sides, the ocean is intimately connected to our lives, coexisting with us and carrying countless stories. We hope to revisit with you the people and events intertwined along the boundary between sea and shore, retrace the original coastline now buried beneath bricks and stone, and re-inscribe those former coastlines in our hearts. Let's contemplate the city's relationship with the ocean throughout history—its glory and shame, rights and wrongs, settlement and displacement, culture and philosophy.
This first-phase guided tour will be led by Cultural Heritage Ambassadors. Join us for an afternoon stroll through the Inner Harbour, weaving through streets and alleys while recounting stories of the past and present, exploring the prosperous tales of the post-19th century Chinese merchant district in the Inner Harbour. The route's main content is closely tied to the festival's exploration and performance themes.
