"Heritage Poetry Path" is a new form of cultural guided tour that integrates "guided tours," "literature," and "visual and performing arts."
We hope to slow down with the audience, wander through the Macau Historic Centre, and immerse ourselves in a new, vibrant touring experience that blends art, history, and humanistic charm. Feel the gradually neglected sentiments and urban memories of small-town life. Through mediums like literature and contemporary art, awaken the possibly forgotten connection between oneself and the World Heritage sites, the streets, and the life of the small city under the night sky... Once, we were here, running through streets and alleys, playing hide and seek...
Have you also left memories of hope, disappointment, fear, happiness, and sadness somewhere in this small city? Have you also been sleepless in the quiet night, occupied by greedy desires, or moved by a single brick or tile? Tonight, let us together reclaim memories, rediscover, and find strength and direction...
Ruins of St. Paul's --> Lover's Lane --> Rua de São Paulo --> Rua da Caldeira --> Travessa do Forno --> Rua dos Mercadores --> Travessa da Fortuna --> Travessa do Faitião --> Rua de Santo António --> St. Anthony's Church --> Orient Foundation Headquarters (For detailed grouping, please visit: http://heritagestroll.weebly.com/)
A distinctive feature of the event is the use of independent headphones, aiming not to disturb the tranquility and beauty of the small city. Both performers and participants receive music and audio through headphones, quietly enjoying the charm of the night lights and environment.
The Macau Heritage Ambassadors Association continues the spirit and experience of the first "Heritage Poetry Path" held last year. This year, the event returns with a new theme, route, and innovative format, focusing on heritage sites, squares, and their surrounding communities to explore the history, cultural aspects, and architectural features of the neighborhoods. This allows participants to stroll through the World Heritage sites while naturally discovering Macau's unique charm, where every corner is a museum and a stage.
In addition to being led by heritage ambassadors, participants will receive independent headphones providing a storytelling-style audio guide blending narrative and historical facts. Through various art forms such as music, dance, poetry, installations, painting, and video, contemporary art serves as a medium to transform and present the historical memories carried by heritage sites and their surrounding streets and alleys over the past few hundred years. From the past to the future, carrying the connection and memories between the old city and oneself, we cherish the remaining heritage, culture, and human touch of the present and make wishes for the future.
