Greater Bay Area Cultural Exchange Project – Contemporary Oil Painting: New Voices in Art
From Visible to Readable: Ho Pui Shan Small Oil Painting Exhibition
This exhibition, organized by the Creative Industries Promotion Association of St. Lazarus Parish and the Old Ladies' House Art Space, and sponsored by the Cultural Development Fund of the Macao SAR Government, will showcase approximately 24 oil paintings from May 25 to June 8, 2024, in Room C03 of the Old Ladies' House Art Space. An opening ceremony will be held on June 2 at 3:00 PM.
Beginning in the 1990s, the artist initiated the Life Series, using the Taoist concept "The Tao begets one; one begets two; two begets three; three begets all things" as a creative foundation to produce a series of oil paintings themed around life as a vessel. After studying in France in 2004, influenced by Western artistic thought, she combined this with the concept of "proliferation." In recent years, she has integrated Chinese character elements into her paintings, researching pictorial composition and the subject of visual guidance. She further explores the transformation between the "visible" and "readable" relationships in painting and has experimented with digitizing oil paintings to create animated works.
