Presented by the Ark Association of Macau Art, 'From Gold Henceforth' is the fifth and final exhibition in the 2023 'Art Reprise' series of five solo exhibitions. This series features five local artists, each drawing inspiration from one of the Five Elements (Wu Xing) – Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth – to showcase the creative possibilities and uniqueness of each element through diverse media and styles.
Artist Carol Sam explores the 'Metal' element through a surreal and metaphorical lens. The exhibition presents 'Metal' in various scenes, examining its multifaceted symbolism and its relationship with four key aspects: value, social civilization, humanity, and the sacred.
Born in Macau in the 1980s, Carol Sam holds a Master's degree in Social Work and works full-time in social services, passionately integrating art into counseling and social issues. Her creative inspiration stems from life, emotions, and the moving experiences of existence. She has participated in expressive arts therapy courses in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau, aiming to combine this with her social work profession to utilize the fluidity and healing power of art.
The Ark Association of Macau Art is dedicated to promoting art and culture. Through various activities such as exhibitions, lectures, and workshops, it provides Macau residents with a space to learn about art, unleash creativity, and enjoy the fun of creation, aiming to enhance public appreciation of art and quality of life.
