Exhibition Overview

"Forest of Shadows" is a joint art exhibition by Macau-based artist Li Fengying (pen name Shadow) and her student, the emerging artist Yi Qilei. The exhibition presents 19 illustration works that delve into the spiritual and artistic journey of Li Fengying's youth.

Concept & Theme

The exhibition uses the metaphor of a "forest" to represent the inner sanctuary of faith and art—a pillar of the artist's spiritual structure. The forest symbolizes a place away from the hustle and bustle, ideal for cultivating the soul and mind.

Artistic Collaboration

Through Yi Qilei's exquisite brushwork, the exhibition meticulously depicts fragments and memories from Li Fengying's adolescent years. This collaborative project, conceived and guided by Li Fengying and painted by Yi Qilei, took over two years from conception to completion. It aims to create a collision of artistic minds, foster local Macau art, provide a platform for young artists, nurture local talent, and bring art into the community.

Artist Biographies

• Li Fengying (Shadow): Born in Macau, she is the founder and president of Macau Fengzhigu Creative Space. She studied Chinese and Western painting under teacher He Guangdai. Li graduated from the Macau Polytechnic Institute's School of Arts with diplomas and a bachelor's degree in Visual Arts (Education). She also completed an Arts Administration certificate at the Macau Institute for Tourism Studies. She is currently engaged in art education, administration, and creation, with her works exhibited locally and internationally.
• Yi Qilei: A next-generation art creator who studied painting from a young age at the Macau Fengzhigu Creative Space under Li Fengying's tutelage. She has a solid foundation in oil painting, watercolor, and sketching and is currently studying at the University of the Arts London.

Objectives

The exhibition hopes to inspire life through life, encouraging the younger generation to experience the embrace of real-world art beyond the virtual network and to engage authentically with life through artistic creation and painting.
