Fête de la Musique (World Music Day) originated in Paris, France in 1982, conceived by American musician Joel Cohen. The event embodies the spirit of "music everywhere," aiming to unite all musicians in offering a completely free and open music celebration to the public. It provides a platform for music lovers to share and exchange. Today, it is celebrated in over 110 countries and 430 cities worldwide.
In 2015, Macau participated for the third time, co-organized by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM), the Cultural Affairs Bureau, and the Alliance Française de Macao.
The goal is to use music, the most accessible art form, to share its spirit. It provides a platform for all musicians—professional, amateur, young, and old—to present diverse musical styles to the public, allowing audiences to immerse themselves in a city-wide musical atmosphere.
The 2015 theme was "621 Global Music, Everyone Starts." The event featured two main activities:
