About the Festival
The Feast of Tou Tei, also known as the Land God Festival, is celebrated on the 2nd day of the 2nd lunar month. Tou Tei, the 'God of Earth', is a widely revered deity in Macau, with numerous shops and homes housing statues in his honor. The city is also home to several dedicated temples, with the Patane Tou Tei Temple and the Horta da Mitra Fok Tak Chi Pagoda being among the most famous. During the festival, believers make offerings at home and follow lion dance troupes to temples to pray for fertile land and bountiful harvests.
