The "New Road Pedestrian Zone" project has turned Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro into a pedestrian area. Have you noticed the arcade buildings lining both sides of the street? The arcades along New Road are a unique architectural feature in Macau, possessing distinct regional, cultural, and historical characteristics. Guest speaker Ms. Wong Ho-sik will synthesize the facade features of these arcades with historical research. Based on findings from field surveys and questionnaires, she will analyze the current state of shops and existing issues within the arcade street district. Proposals for landscape design of the area's facades will be presented, all under the premise of protecting the historical buildings.
Wong Ho-sik is an enthusiast of Macau's arcade facade research and holds a Master's in Interdisciplinary Arts from the Macau University of Science and Technology. After graduation, she worked in brand and spatial design and is currently involved in the jewelry design industry.
