"After the gloom comes sunshine, a rainbow always follows the storm." The "Embrace the Rainbow" exhibition series, part of the larger "Art Power Convergence" project, revolves around the themes of hope and recovery. In an era of isolation, the healing power of art and the essential spirit of "creation" are more vital than ever. This marathon-style series brought together 10 local artists across 5 distinct exhibitions to share their creative responses to the pandemic era.
This final exhibition features a duo presentation by artists Lucifer and Miaomiaosing. Each artist interprets their daily life during the pandemic through their unique visual language—one depicting an inner rainbow in monochrome, the other finding a utopia in a world of color. Together, they offer two perspectives on the truth, goodness, and beauty of the human experience.
Born in Macau, Lucifer has loved drawing, handicrafts, and photography since childhood. The artistic style is predominantly black and white, utilizing mediums such as technical pens, acrylics, oil pastels, and watercolors. Themes are often strange and fantastical, embracing the weird and wonderful. For Lucifer, a rainbow doesn't need to be colorful—it can be black, white, or any shade in between. Each piece is open to interpretation; what you see is what it is.
Graduated with a Bachelor's in Illustration in 2005, Miaomiaosing primarily works with pastels and mixed media. The artistic style is dreamlike and childlike, celebrating the joy of hand-drawn creation. The exhibited work, "Happy Princess," is a story set in Macau about selfless dedication and genuine emotion, inspired by Oscar Wilde's "The Happy Prince." It reflects on the acts of kindness and sacrifice witnessed in the community during Macau's pandemic.
Dedicated to promoting art and culture, AAMA organizes exhibitions, lectures, workshops, and other activities to provide Macau residents with a space to learn about art, unleash creativity, and enjoy the fun of creation. The association aims to enhance public appreciation of art, improve quality of life, and offer an outlet to release the pressures of work and daily life.
