Organized by the Macau Illustrators Association, with the co-organization of the St. Lazarus Creative Industries Promotion Association and the Old Ladies' House Art Space, the "Warm Pet Chronicles" solo exhibition by Ella Tung will be held from May 1 to June 29, 2025, at Room B07, Old Ladies' House Art Space, No. 10 Calcada da Igreja de S. Lazaro, Macau.
This exhibition is a visual dialogue about pure companionship. The artist aims to capture the moments of her friends' furry companions—whether lazy, mischievous, or serene—with delicate brushstrokes, presenting the unique personality and soul of each animal through portraiture.
Centered on the theme of "pets of friends," the exhibition transforms these gentle daily fragments into eternal artistic images through vivid colors and soft lines. From the starlight in a Ragdoll cat's blue eyes to the mischievous curve of a Golden Retriever's mouth, the artist captures not just appearances but the unique soul of each life using meticulous oil painting techniques. The poetic flow of light and shadow constructed within the frames makes it feel as if one can touch the rhythm of a heartbeat beneath the fluffy fur.
This is more than just a pet portrait exhibition; it is a three-dimensional narrative about "companionship." As you stand before the paintings, you may see the shadow of your own beloved pet. Gazing at the wet nose of a dog in a painting might suddenly evoke a memory of a certain evening returning home.
We welcome you to step into this space filled with love and healing to share this beautiful emotion that transcends species.
About the Artist:
Dong Jiahui (Ella) graduated from Cardiff University, UK, with a degree in Mathematics in 2021 and is currently a member of the Macau Illustrators Association. She combines rational thinking with artistic sensibility; her mathematical background gives her work a unique structural beauty, while her diverse artistic explorations fill her creations with warmth.
Since joining the Macau Illustrators Association in 2022, she has continued to deepen her practice in painting, excelling in digital art, oil painting, and watercolor. Her work is delicate and emotional, particularly skilled at capturing moments in life, such as pet portraits and natural landscapes. She has worked in graphic design and now focuses on event planning, integrating artistic aesthetics into event design.
Outside of work, Ella maintains her passion for painting, constantly experimenting with new forms of expression. Her creations showcase precise composition from a mathematical perspective while revealing a meticulous observation of life, forming a unique style that balances rationality and sensibility. In the future, she hopes to continue exploring the combination of art and design, using her brush to record more beautiful stories.
