Fang Lijun is a pioneer of China's "Post-89 New Art Wave." Since the early 1990s, with his iconic "bald head" imagery, he has pioneered the "Rascal Culture" and "Cynical Realism" in Chinese contemporary art.
This exhibition takes "People & Portraits"—a perspective that is both classic and new for studying Fang Lijun—as its main thread. It deconstructively weaves together the exchange and fusion between the faces of the era and public personas, transcendentally conveying the shared pain and synesthesia of the times and life. Centered around four main structural units—"Passage," "Introspection," "Contrast," and "Dust Light"—the exhibition strives to present Fang Lijun's creative journey, especially his new experiments across various media over the past decade. It invites every viewer to touch the chakras of contemporary Chinese people through Fang Lijun's "People & Portraits" and feel the voice deep within their own hearts.
