The 5th edition of the Cross-Strait Four-Regions Artistic Exchange Project, titled "Crossroads • Another Dimension," presents a new perspective on contemporary art from Mainland China, Macao, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. It explores the phenomena arising from the exchange and negotiation between global trends and diverse cultures within fluid living and creative spaces.
Sixteen artists participated, with four from each region:
Initiated in 2008 by the He Xiangning Art Museum in Shenzhen, the project has involved 82 artists, cooperation with six museums across the four regions, and 26 curators and assistant curators over the years.
The exhibition examines the shift from artists creating based on local cultural resources to a new paradigm of "cross-border creation." Many contemporary artists now spend significant time traveling internationally for residencies and exhibitions, creating works that engage with non-local cultural environments. This represents a form of cultural globalization and the results of exchange, collision, and磨合 between local identities and global forces.
