The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government presents the Macao China Pavilion at the 17th Venice International Architecture Biennale. Organized by the Macao Museum of Art under the Cultural Affairs Bureau and co-organized by the Macao Architects Association, the exhibition opened on May 22nd in Venice. Titled "Connected – Macao and Greater Bay Area Cross-Border Life", it explores the connections between architecture, land reclamation, collective memory, and urban life, presenting a vision of cross-border living within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
This marks the fourth time the Cultural Affairs Bureau has organized Macao architects to participate in the prestigious Venice Biennale under the name "Macao, China." The exhibition responds to the Biennale's overarching theme, "How will we live together?"
Founded in 1980, the Venice International Architecture Biennale is one of the world's most important architectural and artistic events. Originally scheduled for May 2020, the 17th edition was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 112 participants from 46 countries and regions, including Macao, took part.
