"Clarity of Ignorance" is a topic derived from years of contemplation and reflection: "Understanding that one does not fully understand." "Ignorance" is a Buddhist term, synonymous with "affliction." Afflictions arise when people make decisions—before, during, and after—and vary in scale and intensity. Questions like "What to eat?" or "What is the meaning of life?" are afflictions; so are "What will happen after doing this?" and "Why didn't I do that before?" From beginning to end, life is filled with afflictions. Whether avoided or not, they persistently appear. As long as a trace of misunderstanding remains, afflictions will always be afflictions. But who has the time to stop and face them, to face oneself? Unknown.
This exhibition presents a collection of "afflictions" before you. You are invited to feel them, to feel yourself, and then consider: how will you face them?
