Overview
The 2nd Macau Contemporary Illustration Competition, themed "City Memory: New Maritime Silk Road," invites creative minds to explore the profound historical and cultural connections between maritime heritage and port city development. Launched in the context of China's "Belt and Road" initiative, this competition seeks original illustrations that delve into the spirit of ocean culture, tracing Macau's unique identity as a city shaped by the sea.
Competition Theme & Units
The central theme is "City Memory: New Maritime Silk Road." Entries must address one of the following five thematic units:
- Navigation and Trade
- Maritime Folklore and Beliefs
- Maritime Myths and Legends
- Maritime Exploration and Archaeology
- Port Cities
Note: Participants may submit product mock-ups visualizing the commercial potential of their artwork.
Eligibility & Submission
- Eligibility: Students, creative professionals, institutions, and companies based in Asia.
- Entry Format: Submit single pieces or series (max 6 pieces per series). There is no limit on the total number of entries.
- Submission Period: May 20 – June 30, 2015 (until 24:00).

Judging & Prizes
- A panel of renowned artists, designers, and cultural historians from across Asia will serve as judges.
- Winning and shortlisted works will be exhibited in Macau and subsequently tour internationally.
