The Cardinal Newman Arts and Culture Centre invites visual artist Lo Wun Yee to present a series of approximately 150 works, with pencil drawings at their core. These pieces capture scenes from her wanderings through the cities of Macao and Hong Kong over the past two years. Using varying shades of black, white, and grey, Lo's pencil drawings carry the rich, three-dimensional stories of these places. Through this collection titled City. Landscape, the artist invites the audience to pass through the city together—experiencing familiar or forgotten faces that have gradually faded. The landscapes may be ordinary and fragmented, but they are, after all, inhabited and full of warmth.
Lo Wun Yee studied design and art in Hong Kong, Italy, and the United Kingdom. Her creative practice centers on pencil drawing and visual anthropology. Her written work addresses topics related to art and culture, feminism, and oral history.
