Ox Warehouse will host the opening of "City Chronicles: Macau-Zhuhai Contemporary Art Exhibition" on April 7, 2013, at 4:00 PM.
Macau and Zhuhai, separated only by a strip of water, have frequent exchanges. Although the cultural atmospheres of the two cities differ, their residents are no strangers to each other. Sharing the same roots and a history as small fishing villages, they have taken divergent paths in their modern social evolution and cultural customs, creating a relationship that is familiar yet somewhat ambiguous. The transformation of the urban landscape, from low-rise houses to skyscrapers, has rapidly shifted the cities' contours. As we navigate these spaces, the disappearance of urban corners has become a habitual memory. New developments and information, indifferent to people's feelings and needs, pass by like fleeting visitors, making acceptance and discarding habitual actions. This exhibition aims to foster artistic and cultural exchange between Macau and Zhuhai through artists' explorations and expressions of the two cities from different perspectives, thereby understanding their respective social forms through diverse viewpoints.
The exhibition features contemporary art, allowing artists to create in various forms. Approximately seven artists from each city, Macau and Zhuhai, were invited to participate, presenting works suitable for the exhibition's theme to facilitate exchange and appreciation between artists and the audience.
