Ox Warehouse will host the opening ceremony for "Circus – Peng Xiao Solo Exhibition" on March 16, 2013, at 4:00 PM.
The creative theme is the circus. Everyone, adults and children alike, enjoys watching circus performances for their joy and surprises. The sight of animals imitating humans—jumping, kneeling, riding bicycles, walking tightropes—elicits applause and admiration for these thrilling acts.
However, behind the spectacle, what brutal training have these animals endured? How many unseen tears have they shed? Through paintings of animal portraits dressed in glamorous attire, Peng Xiao expresses the suffering animals endure to entertain audiences. The works invite viewers to contemplate the sorrow behind the splendor and reflect on the parallels within the human world.
