Artist Choi Kwok Kit presents "Exhibition on Ox Exhibitions," a solo exhibition that explores the concept of exhibitions themselves as a creative subject. The project began after the artist's first visit to New York in 2013, a hub of significant cultural phenomena. Reflecting on his experiences visiting numerous museums and galleries, he discovered a deep connection between his creative practice and the exhibition as a platform. This realization led him to adopt 'exhibitions' as his primary creative theme.
His first foray into this theme involved reinterpreting the MGM Macau exhibition "SHIMMERING. GRAND.AQUATIC" through a series of paintings, employing a personal visual vocabulary to capture the essence of that colorful special exhibition. These works were first shown in 2013 at the "New York, New York" exhibition organized by Art For All Society (AFA) at MGM.
With the support of Ox Warehouse, this solo exhibition extends that exploration. For "Exhibition on Ox Exhibitions," Choi Kwok Kit uses the various exhibitions and performances organized by Ox Warehouse in 2014 as his objects of observation and contemplation, creating new works that probe the deeper significance behind the act of exhibiting.
