From a young age, Ching Ching's parents thought her personality was a bit strange. She struggled to get along with others, and her parents never discovered her exceptional memory skills. They simply wished she could be like other children, often worrying about her learning and development. Ching Ching felt very unhappy because her father never praised her.
Star Boy comes from a planet in outer space where you must be clever to own a star. Because he wasn't clever enough, his star was confiscated. He ended up taking someone else's star and is now being chased by the planet's police, leading him to Earth where he meets Ching Ching.
After the two children become friends, they discover each other's clever strengths. They realize they aren't less capable than other kids; they just have different abilities. In the end, Ching Ching helps Star Boy return to his own planet.
