In the summers of childhood, standing on the balcony of a grandmother's house, blowing bubbles and watching the summer sun refract through their ever-changing surfaces, projecting an inverted world. They slowly rise and gently descend; in the world of bubbles, a breeze is extremely sensitive, potentially carrying them far away before they vanish.
Young photographers Lau Yip and Lok Chung Hong bring a series of photographic works as ephemeral as bubbles this hot summer. They use the instant to interpret reality, capturing not just images but also concepts, releasing them before your eyes in the same space. We hope that during your appreciation of the works, you will pause for a few seconds to think and reflect with our bubbles.
Beauty exists in small corners. Beyond history, culture, social commentary, and care, the young artists' lenses aim to deliver something more this time: a surprisingly delightful output effect. They combine traditional darkroom techniques with advanced giclée printing, with meticulous consideration given to output materials. Various media directly or indirectly connect with the imagery. To a certain extent, this parallel use of old and new output methods is not very common in Macao.
What is even more commendable is that although these two young individuals live in the bustling city of Macao, their vision has not become narrow as a result. This can be appreciated through the themes of their works. The tranquility and peace expressed in the frames once again evoke in the soul of every Macao resident a recollection of bygone days and a subtle sense of joy within.
