Blue is more than just a color; it symbolizes an emotional atmosphere. "Blue Hour" represents the brief moment before the sun rises in the morning or after it fully sets at dusk. This period often coincides with my most disoriented state after school or waking up in the middle of the night. The pandemic spanned my senior year of university through my master's degree, a time of deep reflection on life. During my master's studies, I witnessed countless sunrises, a time when I feared each nightfall and dawn. Sunrise symbolizes the start of a new day, but also meant I had to face the challenges of reality. During this period, I often stood on the large platform of my department building, gazing at the flickering streetlights of Taipei in the distance, feeling the cool breeze—a sign that my lonely time was about to end. This moment of solitude became an opportunity for me to reflect on the past.
In this exhibition, I use multiple mediums to express the beauty of this solitude, including video, installation, oil painting, and photography, as a ritual to commemorate the confusing time after university graduation. Many important memories occurred during these two periods. Through this exhibition, I hope to connect deeply with personal emotions, express these feelings in blue tones, and enjoy my solitary and tranquil "Magic Hour."
