'Blooming Architecture' is a captivating public art exhibition presented by third-year architecture students from the University of Saint Joseph. Using bamboo as their primary medium, the students have created large-scale installations that transform the cityscape and invite the public to interact with nature in a new way.
The exhibition features three main art pieces. Constructed from bamboo and fabric arranged in parametric patterns, the installations are designed to mimic blossoming trees. The structures are illuminated by LED lights after dark, creating a dazzling nocturnal display.
This exhibition is the result of the students' annual design-build project. Under the guidance of visiting professors Jason and João, over a dozen students spent eight days constructing the installations, which were planned and designed since the beginning of the year. Each piece includes built-in seating, allowing visitors to sit within the 'canopy' and enjoy a unique, colorful shade against the backdrop of Sai Van Lake.
