Australia English Training Trip
Organized by the Higher Education Services Office and undertaken by Prideshill Innovations Pty Ltd.
Objective
To enhance the English proficiency of Macao tertiary students, deepen their understanding of Australian history and culture, promote cultural exchange between students from both regions, and broaden the horizons of local tertiary students.
Key Details
- Date: July 18 to August 22, 2015 (5 weeks).
- Target Participants: Full-time Macao resident students enrolled in higher diploma or bachelor's degree programs in Macao or abroad. (Excludes students studying in English-speaking countries, native English speakers, English majors, and final-year graduates of four-year or longer bachelor's programs.)
- Quota: 24 students.
- Location: Brisbane, Australia.
- Activities: Language courses and arranged exchanges with local Macao student associations.
Fees & Financial Arrangements
- Participants are required to pay an activity fee of MOP 6,000.
- Course fees, round-trip airfare between Macao and Brisbane, and official travel insurance during the course are covered by the Macao SAR Government.
- Each student will receive a living allowance of MOP 8,000 to self-arrange accommodation and meals.
Important Notes
- A three-month validity round-trip ticket to Brisbane is provided to allow students to arrive early or extend their stay for cultural immersion. Students must arrive in Brisbane at least one day before the course starts and can only depart the day after the course ends.
- Students must apply for their own Australian student visa.
- Students may extend their stay at their own discretion but must purchase appropriate insurance and assume all responsibility for safety and accidents during the extended period.
- Students must sign a commitment letter before departure, pledging to complete the course, obtain the certificate, and abide by all rules. Failure to comply may require partial reimbursement to the SAR Government.
Rules & Special Circumstances
- Students must comply with local laws.
- In case of illness or emergencies, students must notify the undertaking unit for follow-up and assistance, and submit proof for leave.
- Overall attendance must be at least 80%; unreasonable absences are not accepted.
- Exceptions for attendance below 80% due to serious illness, accident, or force majeure require proof from relevant authorities for consideration by the organizer.
- Violations may require reimbursement of the following government-covered costs:
- Full living allowance: MOP 8,000
- Full course fee: AUD 2,000
- Partial airfare: MOP 8,000
- Reimbursements can be made in three installments in September, October, and November 2015.
The Higher Education Services Office reserves the right to modify and interpret the regulations.
