Exhibition Overview
Taipa Village Cultural Association invites Macau artist Bianca Lei Sio Chong to present her latest series of works. Inspired by the concept of "破" (break), meaning "to break" or "to break through" a scene, the artist uses graphics, photographs, and rubbing techniques to artistically manifest "cracks."
Artistic Concept
A key creative direction for the artist in this exhibition is to break or blur the established boundaries between the artwork and the exhibition space. The exhibition space is typically just a vessel for the works—a conventional definition and state. However, this exhibition integrates the art space as part of the work itself. Visual elements that have appeared or are present in this space—such as raindrops that once lingered on a glass window, cracks in walls or floors, textures, traces, and shadows—are transformed into artworks through graphic, photographic, or rubbing methods. This process elevates previously unobserved or even overlooked visual elements of the venue into artistic creations.
