Feng Xiaofeng, the current artist-in-residence at Ox Warehouse, Macao, is a young sculptor. In recent years, his creation has focused on multimedia interventions into sculptures. He uses musical instruments, installations, sounds, furniture, or everyday objects as elements and methods to create artworks, re-deconstructing their attributes and definitions. This process blurs the objects' original properties, using artistic language to turn them into newly defined entities. Through exploring sound and visual arts, he defines his own artistic direction with sounds, time, and imagery.
In this residency program, Feng Xiaofeng explores using sound art, primarily drawing on elements such as local opera or objects. By altering the movement track of a record player, new sounds are produced when the original path deviates. The artist records this movement and sound on video, culminating in a video installation. Through sculptures, installations, and video works, Feng consolidates his exploration of societal and development trajectories, artistically linking his imagination of the past and the future from the outside in.
