As part of the 'Art Macau' series, the 'Encounter' exhibition was held at City of Dreams from June 6 to October 31, 2019. The exhibition showcased works by renowned contemporary artists, illustrating the evolution of contemporary art from traditional modes of expression to its gradual transformation, liberation, and growth. Each piece offered unique inspiration to viewers.
Fat Convertible: This piece is part of sculptor Erwin Wurm's famous 'Fat Sculpture' series. The work, made of polyurethane foam sprayed with automotive paint, transforms a Porsche sports car into a comically 'fat' vehicle. It humorously explores the relationship between power, wealth, and body weight.
Good Intentions: This is a giant COMPANION sculpture by artist KAWS. Like most of KAWS's work, this piece is heavily influenced by popular culture, blending elements of Mickey Mouse, clowns, and skulls to subvert nostalgia and concepts. The image of a small COMPANION embracing a larger one evokes familial resonance, prompting viewers to reflect on interpersonal and parent-child relationships.
