The 'AP32 Art in Play - Sam Wai Ping Printmaking Art Exhibition' is held from October 18 to November 18 at the Old Ladies' House Artspace (Fantang 10). The exhibition showcases a diverse range of printmaking works, including paper prints, woodblock prints, linocuts, copperplate etchings, silkscreen prints, mixed media, and transfer prints, all imbued with a rich Chinese cultural aesthetic.
The exhibition's theme, 'Art in Play' (游於藝), originates from the Analects of Confucius. Artist Sam Wai Ping aims to share the creative fruits of her joyful and free exploration within the arts during her studies at the Macao Polytechnic University. For her, art is intrinsically linked to human experience. Achieving this state of 'playing within the arts' allows for more relaxed and profound reflection on personal issues, fostering individual growth.
Sam Wai Ping graduated this year from the Visual Arts Education program at the Macao Polytechnic University's School of Arts, majoring in printmaking. She is currently a member of the Macau International Printmaking Association. After a period of uncertainty, she decided to follow her heart and pursue visual arts. She now works in visual arts education, filled with hope for life and a sense of mission in teaching.
This exhibition is part of the Old Ladies' House Artspace's Artist-in-Residence Program, sponsored by the Macao Foundation.
