The Cultural Affairs Bureau's Macao Museum of Art and The Palace Museum jointly present "A Generation of Splendor: Qing Dynasty Empress & Emperor Costume Exhibition from The Palace Museum." The exhibition showcases nearly 90 sets of Qing Dynasty imperial costumes from the collection of The Palace Museum. Highlights include:
The Qing Dynasty, founded on "archery and horsemanship," relied on military prowess to rule the Central Plains. Consequently, Qing attire retained the practical features of nomadic hunting garments while incorporating elements of Han Chinese clothing culture. This fusion led to the establishment of a new ceremonial dress system designed to "distinguish status and clarify rank." Qing Dynasty costumes amalgamate the rituals, religious beliefs, and folk customs developed over millennia by the Chinese nation, showcasing the interweaving of nomadic and agrarian cultures. They have also significantly influenced the development of modern clothing. Visit the Macao Museum of Art to explore the cultural significance and unique charm of Qing court attire.
