A bright full moon hangs in the night sky, a timeless symbol of magical charm and wonder. On the moon, the Jade Rabbit loyally accompanies Chang'e, serving as the inspiration for festive lanterns that resonate with tradition during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
One Central Macau presents the 6th Macao Lantern Festival this Mid-Autumn season. In collaboration with renowned design master Alan Chan and with the sponsorship support of MGM, the festival features large-scale lantern installations along the One Central Macau Waterfront Promenade to celebrate the festival.
From September 22 to November 30, the Waterfront Promenade will be adorned with glowing lotus flowers, Macao's regional flower, transforming into an ethereal garden. Fantastical Jade Rabbits, standing 3 to 4.7 meters tall, will playfully hop between the Waterfront Promenade, One Central Macau, and MGM, welcoming the full moon festival together. Design master Alan Chan stated: "The leaping Jade Rabbit represents the traditional myth 'Chang'e Flying to the Moon,' and its lively form adds youthful vitality. Meanwhile, the lotus symbolizes hope and anticipation for the future, echoing another symbol and landmark of Macao—the Macao Tower."
