To promote the development of Chinese poetry in Macao and preserve the rigorous tradition of regulated verse (格律詩), the Rui Cunha Foundation has been organizing the "Macao Regulated Verse Creation Competition" since 2016. This year marks the third edition of the competition, which continues to thrive thanks to the attention and positive reception from previous years.
The event highlights the broader national and local efforts to integrate Chinese poetry into education. The central government emphasizes cultural heritage, with many schools incorporating "Chinese Poetry into Campus" programs, which have reportedly deepened students' cultural and historical knowledge, enhanced civility, and fostered patriotism.
The Macao SAR government has also been actively promoting Chinese cultural education, with proposals to gradually introduce poetry education in schools. The hope is that through collaboration between officials and citizens, such educational activities will allow Macao's youth to be nurtured by the gentle influence of Chinese poetry, thereby strengthening cultural confidence and fostering positive values of patriotism and love for Macao.
The exhibition is open to the public. All are welcome to attend the opening ceremony and visit the exhibition.
