Event Overview

A series of brilliant and dazzling fireworks patterns bloom in the Macao night sky, accompanied by the cheers of the gathered crowds, creating heartwarming and romantic scenes.

The annual Macao International Fireworks Display Competition not only illuminates Macao's night sky but also touches people's hearts. Every September, typically on Saturday evenings, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day, two fireworks display competitions are held, adding excitement and joy to the holidays. The public eagerly anticipates this season, and many tourists specifically choose this period to visit Macao to watch the fireworks and enjoy a lively and romantic holiday. The fireworks display competition has become a distinctive hallmark of Macao.

History & Scale

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has been organizing this annual event since 1989, starting with only five participating teams. By 1995, the competition expanded from five to ten teams, with two different teams performing each night. The Macao International Fireworks Display Competition is now an international event with significant scale and status among similar competitions worldwide. To date, over a hundred high-level pyrotechnic companies from countries and regions including China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia, Taiwan (China), the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Poland, Croatia, Finland, the United States, Canada, and South Africa have participated.
