The Macau International Marathon, which began in 1981, was initially organized by a group of passionate long-distance runners. After 39 years of development, it has grown into a world-renowned sporting event.
This year's race features three categories: Marathon, Half Marathon, and Mini Marathon. The Marathon and Half Marathon routes continue to pass iconic landmarks including the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge, the UNESCO World Heritage site A-Ma Temple, and Sai Van Bridge. A total of 12,000 participants took part. Some runners dressed up in elaborate costumes to compete for the "Most Creative Costume Award," creating a vibrant, moving spectacle as they set off from the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium, painting a bright line across the winter cityscape.
