The 2019 Macau Light Festival is here! This December, embark on a 'Journey of Light'! The festival will be held from December 1 to 31 at multiple locations across Macau. The dazzling lights of December are always impressive. What surprising light and shadow stories will this year's festival bring?
This year's Macau Light Festival takes 'Journey of Light' as its theme, continuing to feature light mapping performances, light installations, and interactive games. These are distributed across 15 locations in four districts, including the Northern District, which is hosting the festival for the first time. This allows residents and visitors to experience the charm of different districts while enjoying light art, taking check-in photos, and sharing their own 'Journey of Light' in Macau.
Route 1 – Northern District: Feira de S. Francisco Rest Area → Rua Norte do Patane "Bacia Norte do Patane Rest Area" → Yat Yuen Canidrome
Route 2 – Central District / St. Lazarus Parish: Largo do Senado Rest Area → Ruins of St. Paul's → Rua dos Ervanários → Largo do Pagode do Bazar → Calçada da Igreja de S. Lázaro
Route 3 – Southern/Nam Van District: Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre → Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre → Nam Van White Tent → St. Joseph's Seminary and Church
Route 4 – Our Lady of Carmel Parish: Taipa Houses-Museum → Largo dos Bombeiros → Largo do Pagode do Patane
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Macau SAR, special interactive light installations were set up:
Macau's tourism mascot, 'Mak Mak', will guide everyone along the four light-seeking routes, exploring Macau's changes over the past 20 years from the perspective of light art, savoring the growth stories and memories of Macau people, and sharing the joy of the 20th anniversary of the Macau SAR.
