The 2016 Macau International Marathon was a major December sporting event, featuring three race categories: Full Marathon, Half Marathon, and Mini Marathon. It attracted renowned long-distance running elites from Macau and overseas to gather in the city.
The marathon and half-marathon courses featured a closed-road format, taking runners across the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge, past Nam Van Lake and the UNESCO World Heritage site of A-Ma Temple, and over the Sai Van Bridge. The Mini Marathon route was extended to 5.5 kilometers, creating a unique landscape that blended culture and sports.
Participants also had the opportunity to join the Macao Latin City Parade and the Macao Light Festival held on the same day, allowing them to immerse themselves in the city's vibrant cultural and festive atmosphere alongside local residents and visitors.
