Picasso said, “It took me a lifetime to paint like a child”. Also this dialogue in My Neighbor Totoro, an animated fantasy film by Japanese director and animator Miyazaki Hayao: “Since when we no longer could shout recklessly like a kid? Sentiments pile up in heart as high as a mountain, until they spill out. I’d rather be like a child than being like that.”
Children’s innocence and frankness should be learned by us adults. But have we ever thought that we all, at some time, were kids with a pure heart and a curious mind? As grown-ups, we try mostly to pursue our life goal, get knowledge and master the rules, in which process we become ever more introvert and dull.
This year, Ox Warehouse’s children’s exhibition will take you on a journey following the kids’ footprint to see the world, and go back to that pure, original state of mind.
