This special lecture, held for China Cultural Heritage Day, focuses on the authentication of ancient Chinese texts, starting from the "Liu's Jiaye Tang" rare book collection housed at the Sir Robert Ho Tung Library.
The lecture venue is the Sir Robert Ho Tung Library building in Macau's Historic Centre, which houses over 5,000 volumes of ancient Chinese texts. Its most precious collection consists of sixteen types of ancient texts from the "Jiaye Tang" collection of the modern renowned bibliophile Liu Chenggan. Among these, the most famous is Weng Fanggang's Draft of the Siku Quanshu Annotations, which has been included in the National List of Precious Ancient Books and recognized by the Ministry of Culture for its exceptional historical, academic, and artistic value.
Expert bibliographer Shen Jin will use the Jiaye Tang collection at the Ho Tung Library as a starting point to introduce the state of ancient book collections in Guangdong Province and share knowledge on authenticating Chinese ancient book editions, offering his expertise with attendees.
Southern China holds many ancient book collections.
