The 16th Macau Food Festival will be held for 17 consecutive days from November 11 to 27, 2016, at Sai Van Lake Square, Macau. This edition continues to invite renowned local catering merchants to participate, aiming to gather more diverse and innovative local delicacies, striving to offer citizens and tourists an extraordinary "food appreciation" journey.
Held concurrently with the annual Macau Grand Prix, the Macau Food Festival creates a vibrant and unforgettable carnival for all. The festival features famous local and international specialty foods, including multiple food zones such as Asian, Southeast Asian, European, Chinese & local flavors, and desserts, totaling over a hundred food stalls. A series of exciting stage performances are arranged, including pop and nostalgic song performances, dance, magic, martial arts displays, as well as beer drinking competitions and fun game booths.
Each year, the festival adopts a different theme and introduces new elements. In addition to the standard themed streets like "Macau Street," "Greater China Cuisine," "European Food Street," and "Desserts," the annual highlight is the special themed village. Past examples include the 2009 "Penang Night Market," 2013 "Thai Village," 2014 "Kansai Village," and 2015 "Korean Village." These villages feature specialty restaurants specially invited from the respective regions, allowing visitors to experience authentic local culture alongside the food.
To enhance the festive atmosphere, exciting stage performances are held every night. Multiple thrilling prize game booths are set up on the lower level of Sai Van Lake. The Macao Government Tourism Office will also set off spectacular fireworks to celebrate the festival at 9:00 PM on November 12 and 20.
