Course Overview
This course offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy scenic views while improving physical fitness. It is a Stage 1 Hill and Mountaineering Leadership training program designed for enthusiasts.
Course Content
The curriculum is divided into theoretical and practical components:
- Theory (6 hours): Conducted at the 'Station' (驛站).
- Practical (12 hours): Held in the countryside of Coloane.
Key topics covered include:
- Knowledge and selection of hiking equipment and clothing.
- Understanding common terrain types.
- Introduction to grid references and six-figure grid coordinates.
- Hiking techniques, walking methods, pace, and rhythm.
- Foot care.
- Journey planning and preparation.
- Mountain safety rules.
- Basic first aid knowledge.
Certification
Participants who successfully complete the course and pass the assessment will receive a Stage 1 Hill and Mountaineering Leadership Certificate issued by the Hong Kong Mountaineering and Climbing Union.
Important Notes
- The organizing body covers transportation, accommodation, meals, training materials, instructor fees, and equipment rental.
- Participants are required to purchase their own activity insurance.
Course Details
- Duration: 24 hours (2 days, 1 night).
- Schedule: From 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM the following day.
- Location: Outdoors (Coloane, Macau).

- Instructor: Cao Weiliang (曹偉樑) – Certified on-site coach by the China Hong Kong Challenge Ropes Course Association and a certified Stage 1 Hill and Mountaineering Leadership coach by the Hong Kong Mountaineering Union.
