Course Overview
A genuine Level 3 Mountaineering Training Certificate Course for Macau is now open for enrollment! This is potentially Macau's first-ever Level 3 mountaineering class.
This course is organized by the Hong Kong Mountaineering Association, in collaboration with the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau - Taipa Centre, San Ngai, and Macao Polytechnic University.
Building on the experience from two previous Level 1 and Level 2 courses, this Level 3 course offers knowledge and skills for serious climbers, representing a significant step up in training.
Course Details
- Duration: September to November 2016
- Course Structure:
- A. Two consecutive days of indoor theory in Macau
- B. Two separate three-day, two-night practical training sessions in Hong Kong
- C. Strict course assessment
- Prerequisites:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must hold the "Level 2 Mountaineering Training Certificate" issued by the China Hong Kong Mountaineering and Climbing Union
- Must maintain 100% attendance
- Fee: MOP 3,300 (Please refer to the course charter for inclusions)
- Application Period: From now until Tuesday, September 6, 2016
- Office Hours: Monday to Saturday, 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM (Closed on Sundays and public holidays)
Important Notes Before Applying
- Course Information: Please carefully review all details in the course charter, poster, and application form. The charter contains the most detailed information. Inquiries are welcome.
- Application Process: Submit all required documents before the deadline. If applications exceed the quota, a lottery will determine admission. Enrollment is only confirmed upon submission of the completed application form, copy of ID & certificate, and full payment.
- Payment & Fees: Course fees must be paid in cash. This course does NOT receive government funding. Additional costs may be incurred later and will be shared among participants (e.g., fees for bringing Hong Kong instructors to Macau, bus rental, meals). More participants will help reduce individual costs.
- Commitment: Please remember that 100% attendance is mandatory to obtain the certificate. This is a certificate course, not a casual activity. Please attend all sessions seriously.
- Make-up Sessions: If a student misses a session or fails an assessment, they may attend a free make-up class or retake the exam within three months after the course ends. However, students must arrange the specific time and location directly with the Hong Kong instructor.
