To celebrate the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and allow citizens to learn about traditional festivals and experience the festive atmosphere, the Macao Museum under the Cultural Affairs Bureau will hold two sessions of the "Mid-Autumn Festival Pomelo Lantern Workshop" on September 10. The public is welcome to register for this free-of-charge activity.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of Macao's long-standing traditional festivals and is also an item on Macao's Intangible Cultural Heritage List. To promote public understanding of intangible cultural heritage, the Macao Museum continues to organize the "Intangible Cultural Heritage Up Close" workshop series. This allows citizens to deepen their knowledge of Macao's history and culture through hands-on experience with intangible heritage items.
This "Mid-Autumn Festival Pomelo Lantern Workshop" is part of the "Intangible Cultural Heritage Up Close" series. The workshop will be led by a local experienced instructor who will provide live demonstrations, guiding participants in handcrafting pomelo lanterns to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. Through creating these unique lanterns, participants will experience the inheritance and recreation of intangible cultural heritage.
Interested citizens can learn more details and register online via the Cultural Affairs Bureau's webpage "Online Activity System" (www.icm.gov.mo/eform/event) starting now. If the number of applicants exceeds the specified quota, a computer lottery will be conducted to determine participants. Successful applicants will be notified via SMS.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau strictly follows the relevant epidemic prevention guidelines from health authorities to properly arrange cultural and artistic activities. To cooperate with the SAR government's epidemic prevention work, workshop participants must present proof of completion of the full primary vaccination series against COVID-19 (2 doses for inactivated or mRNA vaccines) at least 14 days prior, or hold a negative nucleic acid test result from within the past 7 days.
Additionally, participants must wear their own masks, undergo temperature checks, scan the venue QR code for travel records, present the daily "Health Code," and comply with relevant epidemic prevention and on-site crowd control measures. Individuals with fever or respiratory symptoms will be denied entry to the venue.
